Premier Energies Commissions 7 GW Solar Cell Facility in Andhra Pradesh, Emerging as India’s Largest Solar Cell Manufacturer

Premier Energies Ltd has successfully commissioned a new 7 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, lifting the company’s total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW. The milestone establishes the firm as India’s largest solar cell manufacturer by production capacity.

Completed on schedule and within budget, the new 40-hectare plant has commenced trial production of high-efficiency n-type TOPCon G12R solar cells. Post full stabilisation and production ramp-up, the facility is targeted to achieve an average solar cell efficiency of around 25.8%. Developed with a capital outlay of INR 3,293 crore (USD 343.7 million), the digitally advanced plant boasts a high production throughput of approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour.

Sudhir Reddy, Director and Chief Strategy Officer of Premier Energies Limited, noted that the Naidupeta plant marks a pivotal step in the company’s integrated manufacturing roadmap. “The combination of large-scale production, full automation and advanced cell technology will significantly boost our manufacturing competitiveness, strengthen supply chain resilience, and position us better to cater to rising demand for premium solar products across Indian and international markets,” he said.
