Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) has entered a strategic partnership with Moura to jointly participate in Brazil’s 2026 Energy Storage Capacity Reserve Auction (LRCAP 2026 – National Storage), hosted by Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). The official collaboration was unveiled during The Smarter E South America 2026, held in São Paulo from August 25 to 27.
The partnership integrates CATL’s advanced energy storage system technologies with Moura’s in-depth local market expertise in Brazil. The alliance will also join forces with a leading local player in power conversion systems (PCS) and inverters, aiming to develop localized production solutions that fully meet the auction’s local-content requirements, laying a solid foundation for its in-depth layout in Brazil’s energy storage sector.
At the industry exhibition, CATL showcased its full lineup of utility-scale energy storage systems tailored for the Brazilian market, including the flagship TENER S, high-density TENER H, and the debut of its TENER Sodium sodium-ion energy storage system in Brazil.
Engineered for long-term stable operation, the TENER S system maintains zero degradation in capacity and power within the first five years of its 20-year design lifespan. Equipped with efficient liquid cooling technology, it cuts auxiliary energy consumption by up to 20%, boosts areal energy density by 30%, and reduces equipment footprint by 20%, delivering superior operational economy and space efficiency.
The TENER H system targets high-density utility-scale as well as commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage scenarios. Adopting 575 Ah high-capacity cells, each container delivers 9 MWh of storage capacity and improves land utilization by 45%. It supports flexible configuration of two-hour, four-hour and eight-hour energy storage durations. The two-hour version adapts to fast-response scenarios such as grid stabilization, while the four-hour and eight-hour models achieve up to 96% round-trip efficiency, balancing rapid response and high energy utilization.
Marking its first official launch in Brazil, the TENER Sodium integrated sodium-ion energy storage system features a 20-year design life, 95% round-trip efficiency, and a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to 45°C. The system has obtained IEC, UL and CE international certifications, and integrates customized battery management system (BMS), PCS and thermal management systems optimized for sodium-ion battery characteristics, ensuring high safety and adaptability for complex Brazilian climatic conditions.
As a leading player in Brazil’s energy storage market, CATL holds a 45% market share, with extensive project coverage across power transmission, agriculture, cold-chain logistics and industrial facilities. Its landmark Registro energy storage system, which commenced operation in December 2022, is recognized as Brazil’s first utility-scale battery energy storage project in the power transmission sector, providing stable power support for 15 cities and approximately 2 million local residents.
