Opsun Corporation, a leading Canadian manufacturer of solar panel mounting structures, has announced plans to establish its first U.S. production facility in High Point, North Carolina. The $9.3 million investment will create 20 new jobs in Guilford County and marks a significant step in the company’s U.S. expansion.

“This announcement is yet another illustration of how much companies want to do business in North Carolina,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Our skilled workforce, commitment to sustainability, and convenient East Coast location continues to attract global manufacturers like Opsun Corporation.”

Headquartered in Quebec City, Opsun specializes in designing and manufacturing aluminum mounting structures for commercial, industrial, and residential solar applications. Known for their durability and energy optimization, these structures support the growing clean energy transition. The new High Point facility, Opsun’s third manufacturing site, will increase operational efficiency, expand warehouse capacity, and triple the company’s production footprint.

“We’re thrilled to open our first U.S.-based factory in such a booming economic and strategic center,” said François Gilles-Gagnon, President of Opsun Corporation. “This facility is a key milestone in Opsun’s U.S. growth. With strong support from the local workforce and suppliers, we’re committed to accelerating solar adoption nationwide.”

The new positions will offer an average annual salary of $63,015, surpassing the county average. This could bring over $1.2 million in annual payroll impact to the region.

To support the project, a $40,000 performance-based grant has been awarded through the One North Carolina Fund. This fund helps attract economic investment and create jobs, requiring companies to meet job creation and investment benchmarks before receiving funds. Local matching support is also required.
