Chinese, Indian, and American firms have further solidified their dominance in the global solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) sector, driven by the scale and volume of projects in their respective markets.
According to the latest EPC rankings released today by PV database Wiki-Solar, the top three companies by installed EPC capacity—SOLV Energy, McCarthy, and Eiffage—have held onto their leading positions from last year. However, India’s Larsen & Toubro and Sterling & Wilson have now climbed into the fourth and fifth spots, highlighting India's growing influence in the sector.
SOLV Energy led the industry in new additions, commissioning 20 solar plants with a total capacity of 3.7GW in 2024. No other EPC firm surpassed the 3GW mark, and only three exceeded 2GW in new capacity.
Larsen & Toubro showed especially strong momentum in the Indian market, adding four projects totaling 1.9GW since late 2023—enough to jump three positions in the global rankings.
In contrast, leading European EPCs experienced more modest growth. France’s Eiffage and Germany’s Belectric—while still among the highest in total operating capacity—added just 1.5GW combined over the past year, placing them 10th and 12th, respectively, in terms of newly added capacity.
