BYD Energy Storage and Norway’s Corvus Energy have inked a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop cutting-edge lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems for the maritime sector.
Signed at the 2026 China International Battery Fair (CIBF) in Shenzhen, the deal advances the Memorandum of Understanding reached by the two parties in December 2025. It solidifies in-depth collaboration spanning technological joint development, resource sharing and global market expansion.
The two firms will jointly create high-rate LFP marine battery systems tailored to tough vessel operation scenarios. Leveraging BYD Energy Storage’s advanced LFP cell technology and Corvus Energy’s rich experience in marine system integration, the partnership aims to deliver cost-effective, safe and highly reliable maritime battery solutions.
They will adopt a cell-to-system cooperation model. BYD Energy Storage will provide core LFP cells, battery management expertise and large-scale manufacturing strengths, while Corvus Energy takes charge of system integration, certification, design and global market promotion.
Headquartered in Bergen, Corvus Energy is a top provider of zero-emission solutions for marine, offshore and port use. Its products have been applied in over 1,350 marine projects worldwide, with more than half of zero-emission vessels adopting its systems.
