Malaysia Launches SuRIA Home Rebate Scheme for Residential Solar PV Installations

Malaysia has introduced the Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home program to support residential solar photovoltaic (PV) installations.
The scheme provides a rebate of MYR 600 ($151.27) per kWac, capped at MYR 3,000 per household for systems up to 5 kWac. Eligibility requires installation under Malaysia’s Solar Accelerated Transition Action Program rooftop PV net metering scheme, using installers registered with the Sustainable Energy Development Authority, and commissioning by Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
SuRIA Home opens for applications June 1, 2026 on a first‑come, first‑served basis, running until December 31, 2026 or until the national 250 MW quota is reached. Backed by a MYR 120 million budget, the program is expected to benefit 45,000–50,000 Malaysian households.
Malaysia installed 1.4 GW of solar capacity in 2025, raising its cumulative installed solar capacity to over 5.7 GW.
