SMA Solar Technology (SMA), a leading global specialist in inverters and energy storage systems, has entered a long-term strategic collaboration with Beijing Hyperstrong Technology to jointly drive the development and deployment of large-scale energy storage projects worldwide, accelerating the global energy transition.

The two parties plan to leverage their respective core strengths to build comprehensive synergies across supply chain optimization and technological innovation. Under the new partnership, SMA will contribute its mature inverter technology, medium-voltage switchgear products and professional global service expertise, while Beijing Hyperstrong Technology will bring its robust system integration capabilities. Both sides aim to develop standardized, scalable and globally adaptable energy storage solutions to meet the growing market demand and support sustainable energy development worldwide.

Jürgen Reinert, CEO of SMA, emphasized that the strategic cooperation marks a vital milestone for both enterprises and further consolidates their collaborative foundation. “By joining forces, we will bolster the global delivery capacity of energy storage projects and continuously advance technological innovation in the energy storage sector,” Reinert stated.

Peng Shu, CEO of Beijing Hyperstrong Technology, noted that the partnership stems from both companies’ firm confidence in the long-term prospects of the global energy storage market. “The integration of our complementary strengths will enable us to deliver more reliable and flexible energy storage solutions for global clients, while enhancing our joint capabilities to undertake and deliver large-scale international energy storage projects,” Peng added.

In parallel with the new partnership, SMA’s subsidiary Altenso has achieved a key project milestone by launching its first independently developed scalable energy storage system for Munich-based asset manager MEAG. The newly operational Battery Park Metelen boasts an installed capacity of 92.5 MW and an energy capacity of 231 MWh, undertaking critical grid support functions including frequency regulation and grid stabilization balancing power supply.

To date, Altenso’s global installed battery storage capacity has surpassed 2 GW, with a robust project pipeline exceeding 4.5 GW, laying a solid foundation for its continued expansion in the global energy storage market and supporting the company’s long-term strategic layout alongside its new cooperation with Hyperstrong.
