Chinese inverter and battery manufacturer Growatt has unveiled a new AC-coupled balcony energy storage solution for residential users, expanding its portfolio of household energy products.

The new system, named Aura 5000, is equipped with a 5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery, a bidirectional inverter, and delivers up to 2,500 W of AC output. Designed for flexibility, the system supports AC coupling, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with existing photovoltaic (PV) installations.

According to Growatt, Aura 5000 is compatible with a wide range of inverters and can be added to conventional PV systems without rewiring. “For systems using traditional inverters, Aura 5000 enables smart energy management through flexible AC coupling, significantly reducing retrofit complexity and accelerating solar adoption,” the company said.

The system uses a LiFePO₄ battery with a lifecycle exceeding 6,000 charge–discharge cycles. It features an IP66-rated enclosure, supports cold-start operation down to –30 C, and operates at noise levels below 30 dB. An integrated emergency power supply (EPS) function, with a response time of less than 20 milliseconds, ensures uninterrupted power to critical household loads during grid outages.

Growatt highlighted that Aura 5000 incorporates AI-powered smart energy management, enabling real-time responses to electricity price fluctuations. The system is designed to support households under dynamic electricity pricing schemes by automatically charging during off-peak or negative pricing periods and discharging when tariffs are high.

Physically, the balcony energy storage system measures 45 cm × 19.8 cm × 52.85 cm and weighs approximately 50 kg. It operates within a charging and discharging temperature range of –20 C to 60 C and is compatible with Growatt’s RF smart meter solutions. The Aura 5000 is backed by a 10-year warranty.
