Serbia Adds Record 134 MW of Solar Capacity in 2025

Serbia installed 134.3 MW of new solar capacity in 2025, according to data released by the Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Serbia (RES Serbia), marking a new annual record for the country’s solar market.

The additions build on the 80 MW installed in 2024 and bring Serbia’s total cumulative solar capacity to 318.3 MW.

Prosumers drive solar growth

Households remain the largest group of solar prosumers in Serbia. Nationwide, 4,435 residential installations account for 37.1 MW of installed capacity.

Other prosumers—including industrial and commercial facilities, government institutions, churches, and educational centers—represent 1,631 installations and contribute 88.8 MW of the country’s total solar capacity.

Auction-backed utility-scale projects

Serbia’s second renewables auction, the results of which were announced in February 2025, awarded a total of 176.6 MW of solar capacity across five projects, alongside five wind power projects.

The largest solar award went to the Solarina project, developed by CWP Europe in the municipality of Zaječar in eastern Serbia. The project secured the right to a market premium for 105 MW of its planned 150 MW capacity.

Call for a third renewables auction

RES Serbia is now urging the government to launch a third renewables auction, noting that the announcement was originally scheduled for last year but has yet to be made. Industry stakeholders say further auction rounds will be critical to sustaining Serbia’s recent momentum in solar and wind deployment.
