Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) has signed a three-year energy storage cooperation memorandum with Chinese electrical equipment manufacturer Shanghai Sieyuan Electric, targeting a cumulative deployment capacity of 50 GW.

CATL said on December 25 that the agreement aims to combine the two companies’ respective strengths to promote a market-oriented dual-procurement model for energy storage projects, improve efficiency across the industry chain, and support the high-quality development of China’s energy storage sector.

Under the memorandum, CATL and Sieyuan will coordinate across the full supply chain over the next three years, covering energy storage systems as well as supporting infrastructure such as transmission and distribution equipment. The partnership will also focus on strengthening technical exchanges and joint project development to accelerate the large-scale deployment of energy storage systems within new-type power networks.

Sieyuan and CATL first established a cooperative relationship in 2022. The latest agreement further deepens their collaboration and is expected to enhance synergies across the energy storage value chain, from equipment manufacturing to system integration and project execution.
