German renewable energy group Baywa r.e. has sold 127MW of solar PV capacity in France to two energy asset managers. The projects include the 40MWp Greenberry and 40MW Fontenet 3, acquired by Octopus Energy’s power generation arm, and the 47MW Amance project, purchased by Commerz Real.
All three projects were developed on abandoned or low-quality land. Greenberry and Fontenet 3, located on former military sites in Central and South-West France, are part of a larger 136MW solar hub repurposing military bases.
The Amance project, set to be built on 42 hectares of degraded farmland, will enhance biodiversity and environmental protection. Baywa r.e. states that the site will support sustainable agriculture through sheep grazing alongside solar energy generation.
