BYD Energy Storage has surpassed 1.5 million installed residential energy storage systems globally under its BatteryBox brand, according to a company announcement made on Dec. 18.
The company said the milestone reflects a decade of development in the residential and small commercial energy storage market, positioning BatteryBox as one of the most widely adopted distributed energy storage solutions worldwide. BYD did not disclose a regional breakdown of BatteryBox installations.
The latest figure follows BYD’s announcement at The Smarter E Europe exhibition in Germany in June 2024, when the company reported reaching one million installed BatteryBox systems. This implies that approximately 500,000 additional systems were deployed over the subsequent 18 months.
“BYD Energy Storage is evolving from a battery system provider into a fully integrated solution partner for residential green energy,” said Jiang Feng, residential energy storage system director at BYD Energy Storage, in a press release.
Jiang added that in 2025 the company launched a full-link solution integrating batteries, inverters, an app and a cloud platform. The solution is based on upgraded vehicle-grade battery cell technology and is designed to deliver enhanced value to end users. Looking ahead, BYD plans to strengthen cooperation with global home energy storage distributors and installers through localized marketing, professional training programs and a comprehensive after-sales support system.
