Harmony Energy has completed the sale of its 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to EDF Renewables Polska, a subsidiary of EDF Group. This significant transaction strengthens Harmony Energy’s strategic position in Poland’s energy market, with the proceeds set to support future BESS developments.
Marking a key milestone for Poland’s energy sector, the 200 MW / 400 MWh site will rank among Europe’s largest battery storage projects, enhancing grid stability and renewable energy integration.
Michał Maćkowiak, Executive Director of Harmony Energy Poland, stated:
“We have ambitious plans for Poland, and this agreement positions us strongly to develop, own, and operate a substantial portfolio in the country. Poland’s energy landscape is evolving rapidly, with increasing demand for flexible storage solutions to balance the growing share of renewables and the decline of coal-fired assets. This acquisition underscores the rising importance of high-quality battery storage projects, which are essential for advancing home-grown clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.”
“This achievement provides us with the resources and momentum to drive future developments, expand our pipeline, and continue delivering projects that support Poland’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy system. It also validates the exceptional quality of projects developed by Harmony Energy, as demonstrated by this transaction.”
Moreover, this acquisition highlights the increasing demand for advanced energy storage solutions across Poland and Europe. As countries accelerate their transition to renewable energy, battery storage plays a crucial role in grid stability and the large-scale adoption of intermittent energy sources like wind and solar.
