Chinese manufacturer TCL SunPower Global, a subsidiary of TCL Technology Group Corp., has launched a new all-in-one residential energy storage system (ESS) under the SunPower brand for the French market. The integrated solution combines solar generation, battery storage, and smart energy management, aimed at helping households increase solar self-consumption.
Fully compatible with SunPower photovoltaic modules and managed through the SunPower mobile app, the system will be available starting in January via five authorized distributors: Alliantz, Ecostal, Génélios, Ned, and Voltanéo.
“This new product is a strong selling point for our installer partners: a trusted brand, a complete system, and a single point of contact,” said Steven Beaufrère, France Director at TCL SunPower Global, speaking to pv magazine France during the Energaïa trade fair. He noted that the ESS will be offered with 6 kW and 10 kW inverter options for single-phase systems and 10 kW or 13 kW options for three-phase configurations.
Modular, Flexible Storage Design
The storage system supports both DC-coupled and AC-coupled configurations and uses stackable 5 kWh modular batteries. Homeowners can install a minimum of 10 kWh and scale capacity up to 30 kWh. Each 57 kg battery is designed with ergonomic handles, while plug-in modules with guided connectors reduce manual wiring by about 75%, according to TCL SunPower Global. System commissioning is completed on-site via smartphone using predefined settings.
Safety and Longevity Features
Backed by a 10-year warranty, the SunPower ESS complies with current European safety standards. Each battery includes eight thermal sensors that automatically trigger safety protocols in case of overheating, as well as fire-retardant aerogel insulation around each cell. In the event of a fault, an internal fire-suppression mechanism activates within 15 seconds to absorb heat and halt thermal reactions. Intelligent state-of-charge algorithms are also employed to extend overall battery lifespan.
Support for Installers
Beaufrère said the company intends to support installers throughout the rollout, including assistance with required documentation and on-site support during their first installation. “Because this is new equipment that they may not yet be familiar with, we assist them during their first installation to ensure everything is done correctly,” he added.
