The Guayepo III Photovoltaic Project in Colombia, constructed by POWERCHINA, achieved full grid connection on October 7, six days ahead of schedule — marking a major milestone for the company’s operations in the Americas. The early completion highlights POWERCHINA’s ability to deliver large-scale renewable energy projects efficiently, while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.
Since entering the electromechanical installation phase earlier this year, the project team faced significant challenges, including two consecutive rainy seasons that created complex and unpredictable construction conditions.
Despite these obstacles, the team ensured steady progress through meticulous planning, close coordination, and scientific management. The project adopted a “self-operation + subcontracting” model, which strengthened POWERCHINA’s control over planning, resource allocation, and process management. This integrated approach enhanced efficiency, improved supervision, and helped minimize delays.
Once fully operational, Guayepo III is expected to generate around 183 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, supporting local communities and advancing Colombia’s energy transition and carbon reduction goals.
The early completion of Guayepo III demonstrates POWERCHINA’s strong project management capabilities and commitment to driving renewable energy development across Latin America. It also provides an important benchmark for the company’s future solar and infrastructure projects in the region.
