France continues to accelerate its solar deployment, installing 1.35 GW of new photovoltaic (PV) capacity in the second quarter of 2025, according to data released by Enedis, the French electricity grid operator. This brings the countrycumulative installed PV capacity to 24.85 GW as of the end of June 2025.

Between April and June, approximately 1,358 MW of new solar systems were connected to the national grid. This marks a notable increase from the 999 MW added in Q2 2024, though slightly below the 1,407 MW installed in the first quarter of 2025.

In total, France deployed 2.76 GW of new PV capacity in the first six months of 2025 — 35% increase compared to 2.04 GW added during the same period in 2024.

Integration with Energy Storage

Enedis also highlighted that 53 MW of the newly installed PV capacity in Q2 2025 was coupled with battery storage. Overall, 84 MW of energy storage systems were connected to the Enedis network between January and July 2025, matching the figure recorded during the same timeframe in 2024.

Steady Growth Toward Renewable Targets

Frances sustained growth in solar capacity reinforces its commitment to energy transition and carbon neutrality goals. The integration of storage solutions alongside solar installations also reflects increasing attention to grid stability and flexibility as renewable penetration deepens.

With nearly 25 GW of total installed solar capacity, France remains one of Europes key solar markets and is well on its way to meeting its medium-term renewable energy targets.
