Arctech and Shanghai Electric have formally signed a contract for the 2.3GW Sadawi Solar Project in eastern Saudi Arabia. Spanning approximately 40 square kilometers (equivalent to 5,700 soccer fields), the project marks another major utility-scale solar development in the region for Arctech.
The project will exclusively utilize Arctech’s SkyLine II solar tracking system, engineered to withstand desert conditions including high winds up to 55m/s. Its customized design integrates bifacial modules and robotic cleaning systems to enhance energy yield. Operations will be managed via Arctech’s SCADA monitoring platform for real-time maintenance.
Upon completion, Sadawi is projected to generate over 6 billion kWh of clean electricity annually – sufficient for 700,000 Saudi households – while reducing CO₂ emissions by roughly 3 million tonnes.
