Recently, five major associations representing California's solar, wind, energy storage, and related industries—including the Large-scale Solar Association, American Clean Power Association California, SEIA, California Wind Energy Association, and California Energy Storage Alliance—jointly sent a letter to Governor Gavin Newsom and state legislative leaders.
They urged officials to expedite environmental review and permitting for projects, initiate new clean energy procurement, and permit more facilities to be sited on agricultural land. The governor's office has yet to respond.
This appeal comes against the backdrop of the Trump administration formally signing the "Big and Beautiful Act" into law. The legislation will phase out tax credits for wind and solar projects—a policy threatening California's renewable energy initiatives, local employment, and the state's clean energy goals.
