GameChange Solar Secures Major Tracker Contract for 1 GW Solar-Plus-Storage Project in Egypt

GameChange Solar has secured a contract to supply its Genius Tracker™ 1P Single Row systems for Phase II of Egypt’s Abydos Solar PV Plant. The technology will support the project’s integration of a 1 GWac solar photovoltaic plant with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

Phase II, developed by AMEA Power and built by CEEC-ZTPC, reinforces GameChange Solar’s regional leadership, bringing its cumulative contracted capacity in Egypt to nearly 3 GW.

Vikas Bansal, President – International at GameChange Solar, highlighted the partnership’s continuity: "We’re honored to continue working with CEEC-ZTPC and support AMEA Power after the successful commissioning of Abydos Phase I."

Scheduled for commissioning in May 2026, this landmark facility in Aswan Governorate spans 20 square kilometers. It directly supports Egypt’s target of sourcing 42% of its electricity from renewables by 2030.

Upon completion, the complex is projected to generate approximately 3,000 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power over 500,000 Egyptian homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than one million metric tons per year.
