LONGi has deepened its partnership with Spanish EPC contractor Grupotec to develop multiple large-scale ground-mounted PV projects in the UK. Under the agreement, LONGi will supply 187MW of its high-efficiency back-contact (BC) modules, the Hi-MO 9 series.

Grupotec, a developer with project experience across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa, selected LONGi’s modules following technical assessments indicating that Hi-MO 9 optimizes energy yield and reduces balance-of-system (BOS) costs, thereby achieving a lower levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).

The 2nd-generation BC modules feature a rated power of 670W and 24.8% conversion efficiency. LONGi states these modules demonstrate lower degradation in extreme conditions like high heat and humidity while enhancing long-term safety and reliability.

David Sánchez, LONGi’s Regional General Manager for Iberia, noted the collaboration reflects shared goals for efficient and economical solar solutions. Grupotec CEO César Moreyra emphasized that component selection prioritized engineering analysis and LCOE optimization targets.

This project marks an expansion of the partners’ strategic relationship established in 2023. LONGi confirms its BC production capacity is scaling globally, with accelerated deployments in European markets. The company highlights BC technology as a key R&D focus to maximize lifecycle value for solar installations.
