Recently, Sunrev Solar announced it will invest $200 million to establish a solar manufacturing complex in the Ain Sokhna industrial zone within Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

According to the project plan, this solar manufacturing complex will be constructed in two phases.

Phase One involves an investment of 90million and will build two factories, each with a capacity of 2GW, dedicated to producing solar cells and moudules respectively. Phase Two will see an additional investment of 110 million, focusing on localizing the production of core raw materials like silicon ingots, thereby establishing a complete solar module production chain.

The project is expected to commence operation in the first half of 2026. Upon full completion, it will create over 1,800 direct jobs and generate annual export revenues of up to $300 million.

Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, emphasized the project's significance: "This initiative not only elevates Egypt's standing in the renewable energy sector but also aligns with our 2030 Vision goals of mitigating climate change impacts and achieving energy diversification."
