Envision Energy Storage recently announced it has formally signed an EPC contract with European renewable energy developer Kallista Energy. The two companies will jointly construct a 120MW/240MWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery energy storage station in Saleux, Hauts-de-France region, France. This marks the official launch of Envision's first independent energy storage project in France and is a key milestone in its expansion into the European market.
The project is scheduled to commence construction in June 2025. Envision Energy will be responsible for providing the complete solution, including its full suite of self-developed DC and AC systems as well as Power Conversion Systems (PCS). Once operational, the station will provide grid balancing services to the local power grid through the capacity reserve market operated by French transmission system operator RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Électricité). To ensure long-term stable operation and localized service, Envision has committed to providing a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) for a minimum of 14 years.
Henry Xin, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy and President of Latin America & Europe, stated that France is a key market in its European strategy. This cooperation embodies Envision's commitment to supporting grid stability and the renewable energy transition through safe and reliable smart energy storage solutions. Frédéric Roche, President of Kallista Energy Group, emphasized that the project's launch is a significant step towards shattering the outdated idea that "electricity cannot be stored." He noted it will help accelerate renewable deployment and reduce fossil fuel dependence, adding that the company is actively advancing other similar projects.
Founded in 2005, Kallista Energy is an independent renewable energy producer operating 40 renewable energy power plants and charging facilities across France, the Netherlands, and Germany, while actively expanding its presence in the energy storage sector. As a globally leading smart energy storage system integrator and ranked third in global shipments for 2024, Envision Energy Storage leverages its technological innovation and full-stack R&D capabilities. The company is focused on enhancing its full-industry-chain service capabilities in the European market to help build a safer, more reliable net-zero energy future.
