Jinko Solar, through its two subsidiaries, has sued Indian solar company Waaree Energies and its US subsidiary, Waaree Solar Americas.

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas for alleged infringement of the TOPCon patent (US11,824,136).

The patent, titled "Solar Cell, Manufacturing Method, and Photovoltaic Module," was acquired by Jinko Solar in 2023.

Waaree Energies, the flagship company of the Waaree Group, is India's largest solar PV module manufacturer, operating 4 PV manufacturing facilities in Gujarat.

Jinko Solar has also sought patent protection in key global markets, such as China, Japan, Australia, and the European Union.
