German May Solar Installations Rebound, Exceed 1GW​

According to the latest data published by Bundesnetzagentur, Germany’s monthly solar PV installations reached 1.113 GW in May 2025. This figure was lower than the 1.223 GW recorded in the same month last year, but higher than the 817 MW in March and the 945 MW in April of this year.




The May installations consisted of:


476.7 MW of rooftop solar. Installations in this segment have been declining since January.


456.8 MW of ground-mounted solar from 108 newly grid-connected projects.


56 MW of balcony PV. The cumulative number of balcony PV systems installed in Germany has now surpassed 1 million units.


According to the agency, Germany installed over 5.2 GW of new solar PV capacity between January and May this year, expanding the cumulative capacity to 106.28 GW.
