On June 12, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) officially launched a tender for an integrated photovoltaic-and-energy-storage project, planning to construct a 2GW photovoltaic power plant and a 1GW/4GWh energy storage system.
According to the tender requirements, the minimum bidding capacity per bidder is 50MW, capped at 1GW, with bid capacities required to be multiples of 10MW.
Critically, this tender mandates energy storage integration, requiring at least 0.5MW/2MWh of storage capacity for every 1MW of photovoltaic capacity. This storage capacity may be owned by the photovoltaic project developer or procured through a third-party agreement.
Additionally, all solar modules and cells deployed in this tender must be sourced from ALMM List-I (for modules) and List-II (for cells).
Winning bidders will enter into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SECI. They are responsible for securing land, obtaining all necessary approvals, and establishing grid interconnection with either the ISTS network or State Transmission Utilities (STUs).
