Mesquite, Texas, May 28 – Chinese energy storage company Hithium officially opened its first energy storage system manufacturing factory in Mesquite, Texas, USA.
The opening ceremony was attended by over 200 industry representatives, local officials, and partners. The facility spans 484,441 square feet and represents a total investment of nearly $200 million. According to the company's plan, the factory is scheduled to commence full-scale production in July 2025. It has a designed annual production capacity of 10 GWh for battery modules and systems and is expected to create approximately 200 jobs.
Mizhi Zhang, President of Hithium's Global Marketing Center, stated during the ceremony that the company has established a "dual-core structure" in the United States: a "West Coast market hub (California office) + Central-South manufacturing center (Texas factory)." Zhang explained that this layout aims to build a comprehensive coast-to-coast service network across the U.S. and expressed the expectation that it will set a new standard in the North American energy storage market.
James Boswell, Vice President of North America Operations at Hithium, outlined the factory's future operational focus. He introduced that operations will revolve around four key pillars: "Community Collaboration, Talent Cultivation, Technological Innovation, and Operational Excellence." The goal is to support Texas in becoming a hub for the North American energy storage industry.
Mesquite Mayor Daniel Alemán Jr. welcomed Hithium's investment. He mentioned that the factory, through collaborations with 40 local school districts and universities around Dallas, provides opportunities for young people. This integrates clean energy manufacturing with community education development and has the potential to drive sustainable economic and social development in the local area.
Hithium Chairman Jeff Wu stated that the Texas factory marks the starting point of the company's global expansion strategy. Hithium plans to build a more resilient global supply chain to solidify its position in the global energy transition.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the factory's smart manufacturing workshop and participated in a panel discussion on "Global Supply Chains." The opening of this facility signifies a significant step forward in Hithium's implementation of its globalization strategy.
